Webull

Pros

  • Commission-free
  • Great mobile app
  • High security
  • Account insurance options

Cons

  • Only available in Hong Kong and the U.S.
  • Only supports 27 different cryptocurrencies.

Webull began in 2017 with a mission to make investing enjoyable. They believe that since individuals are a part of the market, exchanges shouldn’t ignore the individual user experience. One of the ways they optimized user experience is by offering commission-free trading, which is a rarity among crypto exchanges. Webull is owned by Chinese holding company Fumi Technology and is only available to users in the United States and Hong Kong. While Webull is interested in expanding into the European market, they aren’t ready to deal with the immense regulations.

KuCoin vs Webull: Exchange Comparison

Fiat currencies accepted

KuCoin is available in over a hundred countries and supports 50+ fiat currencies like USD, EUR, AUD, and many more.

Webull supports eleven different fiat currencies such as EUR, USD, AUD, CAD, and others.

Cryptocurrencies accepted

KuCoin supports 370+ different cryptocurrencies, such as BTC, ETH, and DOGE, to name a few.

Webull currently offers 27 of the most popular cryptocurrencies, including BTC, ETH, LTC, and more.

KuCoin vs Webull Fees

KuCoin has very low trading fees that come in at a base rate of .1%. You can get these trading fees reduced further if you use the exchange’s native coin when paying your fees.

Webull might rank supreme out of all exchanges when it comes to fee structure. They have no account minimum and charge zero fees for trades you make. While they claim to be commission-free, it’s a bit more complicated than that. They have a spread markup of 100 basis points, meaning that your crypto purchases will be marked up by about one percentage point.

🏆 Winner: Webull

Webull easily wins this category as their main app

Deposit Methods

KuCoin recently released their KuCoin Fiat Account, allowing users to deposit fiat currency in addition to cryptocurrency on their platform. In addition to fiat deposits, you can instantly purchase crypto with a debit card, credit card, Apple Pay, and PayPal.

Webull makes funding your crypto trading account easy. You can do so with PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, and tons of other options. You can also take the traditional approach and fund your account via wire transfer or instantly purchase crypto with debit and credit cards.

🏆 Winner: Webull

Webull has prioritized a great user experience throughout its platform, and their approach to deposit methods is no different.

Staking on KuCoin vs Webull

KuCoin is an innovator when it comes to staking. If you are new to crypto trading, staking is when you lock up your digital assets and earn interest and rewards in return. In 2019, KuCoin revolutionized staking through the introduction of Soft Staking. Soft Staking is great because it lets you earn the same interest and rewards on your digital assets without ever having to lock them up.

Webull doesn’t specialize in staking like KuCoin, but you can stake some of the cryptocurrencies offered on the exchange. While they don’t offer too many coins to choose from, you can take advantage of Etherium staking rewards.

🏆 Winner: KuCoin

KuCoin is one of the best exchanges for staking as they were the first to introduce Soft Staking.

Notable Features

KuCoin comes with plenty of unique and interesting features, such as their Trading Bot. With the KuCoin Trading Bot, you can adjust the rules and parameters of the automated trading assistant so it can execute trades for you while you’re away from the computer. One of the most appealing aspects of KuCoin is all the different cryptocurrencies they offer. With over 370 different coins, you’ll be hard-pressed to think of a cryptocurrency they don’t support

Webull is best known for its commission-free trading. They may be the only crypto exchange to have absolutely no trading fees on crypto transactions. As discussed before, they do make profits off of their spread, but it is still an extremely cheap exchange to use. Webull can also help you get started in the crypto market even if you don’t have much money as they have no account minimums.

🏆 Winner: KuCoin

KuCoin offers their users plenty of interesting and unique features far beyond simply being an inexpensive exchange

Security Features

KuCoin is a highly secure exchange that boasts its user’s funds are under bank-level asset security. They have achieved such a high-security status through several security measures, such as micro withdrawal wallets and dynamic multi-factor authentication.

Webull has a surprisingly advanced security network, considering how inexpensive the exchange is to use. Webull users can take advantage of two-factor authentication, 128-bit encryption, and many more features. Even better, Webull has Securities Investor Protection Corporation insurance so clients can recoup their losses in the rare instance of theft via hacking.

🏆 Winner: KuCoin

KuCoin has a slight edge in this category because they have so many advanced security measures that their users can opt into.

Regulation Compliance

KuCoin is an international exchange and has adapted to a multitude of different regulations found around the world. They use the standard Know Your Customer (KYC) protocol, making anonymous trading is impossible on their exchange. KuCoin has also gone a step further by implementing Know Your Transaction (KYT). KYT allows KuCoin to track all illegal activity taking place on their exchange.

Webull is well regulated by both Chinese and U.S. financial authorities. If you are a U.S. user, understand that Webull is completely legit as they are overseen by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Additionally, Webull Financial LLC is part of the NASDAQ and NYSE.

🏆 Winner: KuCoin

KuCoin is available in over a hundred countries and is skilled at adapting to all necessary regulations and tax codes.

Customer Service

KuCoin’s customer service is pretty disappointing as they don’t offer live chat support, and their support team can take a long time to reach. Since they operate in over a hundred countries and have over 9 million users, it makes sense that their support team cannot keep up with the demand.

Webull’s customer service is better than KuCoin’s, but not by too much. Webull offers phone support from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm ET Monday through Friday. When you get into contact with a customer service representative, they are known to be polite. But, the problem is getting in touch with a representative. Users have complained that they have tried to contact Webull’s customer support team but are left on hold for inordinate amounts of time.

🏆 Winner: Webull

Webull wins this category, but it isn’t anything to write home about.

Mobile functionality/mobile app

KuCoin specializes in desktop application use and comes with a great mobile app. KuCoin’s mobile app can be used on iOS and Android devices, letting you use some of their best features on the go, like Soft Staking. KuCoin has a 4.5-star rating on the Google Play Store with over 13,000 reviews.

Webull has such a highly rated app because their exchange is targeted at beginner investors who prefer to use mobile apps rather than more advanced and technical desktop ones. Webull has a stellar 4.7-star rating in the App Store with over 260K reviews.

🏆 Winner: Webull

Webull is optimized for mobile app usage and has done a great job making an easy-to-use application that works and looks great.
